    Hi.

I have some difficulties to combine MLA and Admin Columns plugin. Some columns doesn’t show up. I must develop the “Screen options” and tick their checkbox On to see them. On every page refresh (except when I click on the Next page link), these columns are hidden.

Here is how MLA is displayed when I call it:

Here is the Admin Columns Pro setting for MLA:

Thanks for your question and for all the details you posted regarding your configuration. It looks like you have used Admin Columns to remove most of the columns MLA generates by default; is that right?

MLA has reasonable support for the free version of Admin Columns and I am working with the vendor to improve support for the Pro version as well. Some of the Admin Columns Pro features are version-dependent. Can you tell me which version of Admin Columns Pro you are using? Thanks for any additional information you can give me.

As written on my screen captures, MLA is 2.41 Admin Columns is 3.8.9.

If I can help with other infos please feel free to ask.

Thanks for your update with the additional information.

You have uncovered a defect in the current MLA version (and in all earlier MLA versions going back several years) – thank you! I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20170306 that corrects the problem. To get the Development Version, follow the instructions in this earlier topic:

Shortcode not working in (special) widget

It would be great if you could install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you.

If you don’t want to install the Development Version you can avoid the problem by adding one more column to your list and leaving it hidden. The problem only occurs when ALL columns are selected for display.

If the Development Version or the workaround do not solve your problem, let me know and I will investigate further. Thanks again for alerting me to this problem.

Don’t know where is my last post gone, maybe a moderator didn’t like it or I did a wrong maneuver. I wanted to confirm that both solutions work great. Thank you very much.

    Hi.
Is it normal that field names are in double when we edit the MLA view in Admin Columns Pro settings ?

Thanks for your updates with the good news regarding the MLA fix I made and your new question.

Yes, it’s “normal” to have the duplicate listings, although it is a bit confusing. MLA provides many additional columns of its own, such as Caption and Description. Admin Columns has many of the same columns as part of the enhancements it makes to the WordPress Library screen, and neither MLA nor Admin Columns makes any effort to de-duplicate the list.

The original motivation to add Admin Columns support to MLA was in response to some MLA users’ requests to be able to move columns around and resize them. This works with the existing implementation. I have been working with the Admin Columns developers to improve the integration and I will have a look at the “duplication” issue as part of that effort.

Thanks for your understanding and your patience!

I have been working with the Admin Columns developers on this issue and I am pleased to report some progress. They have given me instructions on how to filter the columns list and I have added this to my most recent Development Version. It will also be in the next official MLA release, due out in a few days.

The fix is in the 20170316 Development Version if you want to try it out. Just follow the process outlined earlier in this topic and let me know how it works for you.

Thanks for motivating this MLA enhancement!

I have released MLA v2.51, which contains the Admin Columns fixes. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding the MLA/Admin Columns combination.

I have been working with the Admin Columns developers to improve integration between their plugins and MLA. I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version with improved handling of the “duplicate columns” and custom fields. This new version also implements inline editing for several columns when used with Admin Columns Pro.

The improvements will be in the next MLA version, but you can try the Development Version if you’d like to help test the improvements. You can download the latest Development Version by clicking this link:

If you get a chance to try it, let me know how it works for you; thanks.
