 * I am working on a website for a school. Actually, it will be a collection of
sub-sites, one for the district, and one for each of six schools. The school
folks want drop-down menus. I need to be able to have a dropdown that leads to
the other sub-sites, while other dropdowns lead to pages & categories within
the current subsite. How do I make custom dropdown menus that are a mix of these
   links?

 * Are you using [WP’s multisite option ](http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network)
   to run a small network?

 * Honestly, I’m not sure how the guy setting up the server & wordpress software
is planning on doing the sub-sites, as he hasn’t set them up yet. I had originally
been working with wordpress mu, but the school’s tech guy is handling everything
on the server setup & wordpress installation level, and that doesn’t seem to
be the version of wordpress he’s installed.

 * After talking to the server guy, it looks like it will be Mu.

 * If MU has been used before, then I’d imagine that you’ll be using WP 3 Multisite(
which replaced WPMU). On that basis, and assuming that each school will have it’s
own sub-site, I think your best option is to use a [custom menu](http://codex.wordpress.org/Navigation_Menus)
and then add links to each of the sub-sites using the Custom links option in
   Appearance/Menus.
 * However, I’m not a multisite expert and there may be a more elegant way to construct
the menu you want. so I’ve tagged this topic as ‘multisite’ in the hopes that
one of the multisite gurus will drop by.

 * Thanks, looks like I have some reading to do (as well as developing some php
skills). I’ll post back if I get stumped, thanks again!
