I’m testing the free version of ColorMag as a possible replacement for another popular magazine Theme, but struggling with the Widgets – if I use the Featured Posts Style 1 at the top for my most recent Posts (regardless of category) and the Style 2 for the three columns below (choosing a category for each) as is a very common layout on magazine sites, the ‘recent’ Posts are duplicated because there is no Post Offset setting that is common with other Themes….

Is this just not a feature of the free version? I cannot find any info on on using a Post Offset to avoid duplicated Posts on a home page in your documentation for the Pro version, but this is such a basic need that I’m surprised to not find it in the free version.

How does ColorMag avoid duplicated Posts on a widgetized Home Page?

  • Hey @trisham ,

    I apologize for the delay.

Avoiding duplicate posts is an important feature of Colormag Pro. We have implemented it in the pro version of our theme. Could you please contact us via our live chat by going to ThemeGrill’s site so that we can discuss it in detail as we are not allowed to do so in this public forum as per the guidelines provided by .org?

Hey Bikalpa, thank you for responding. I will mark this as resolved so it doesn’t negatively impact your support rating, but honestly I think post_offset is such a basic loop feature that it should be included in your free version. Every other magazine-style Theme I’ve tested includes it in theirs, for the most part the additional features you get by upgrading to a Pro level include more style options (fonts & colors) as well as additional widgets and page templates.

But for a widgetized home page to not have a way to avoid duplicated posts by not including post_offset as a widget option makes no sense to me.
