Support » Plugin: WordPress Gallery Plugin - NextGEN Gallery » Missing Photo Thumbnail on Older Posts

  • I have a wedding photo blog. WordPress with Graph Paper Press. Using NextGEN slide show plugin to display photos. The top (most recent) post will show all the photos, then the older ones underneath are compressed to the title with a single thumbnail. Until now. I updated the NextGEN plugin, but haven’t changed anything else. On the “One year shoot” you’ll see the thumbnail – that’s what I want!

But the others above it – it is title with no thumbnail. I have no idea why this is suddenly happening. I did go to the “Manage Galleries” tab in NextGEN and see the “Preview image” drop down menu, but it doesn’t display it on the most recent posts, and the older ones that do show an image on the homepage, it only shows the last image uploaded. you can see the blog here:

    please advise! thanks!

@photox2h – Are you manually changing the display from the full gallery (like your recent post) to a single image display (an album display?), or are you using some sort of code to do this for you?

umm, I not using any code, that’s for sure. my step by step process when starting a new post:

    1) click “Attach NextGEN Gallery to Post” – green icon. NextGEN Gallery window opens
    2) leave Basic Thumbnails selected
    3) click over to Add Gallery/Images
    4) write in name of new gallery, add files, start upload
    5) click over to Manage Galleries tab, find new gallery, Sort order to preference
    6) click back to Display Galleries – second drop down “What would you like to display” Sources: Galleries. find gallery i just uploaded, leave Slug empty
7)Then “Customize the display settings” “images per page” to number of images uploaded so only one page. Slideshow link to No.
    8) Then save – and that inserts it into the new post.

everything else is fine. As you can probably see, it’s just when the newest post is “on top” of a previous, that previous now just compress to title with no preview/thumbnail like it used to starting with “one year shoot”

@photox2h – The process seems very good … do you see the same issue if you temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme?
