Missing header and footer in IE (10 posts)

    Hello:

I'm new at blogs and am learning as I go. I loaded a theme and hacked around to customize it. It looks ok in Safari and FF, with the exception of the footer being offset a pixel or 2 (if someone can help with that, please do); however in IE the header, footer and bg(body) jpgs don't load. Can someone offer some help with this?

    Thanks,

    Chip Mitchell

Uhm, Just looking at your site, where I could see your header and your footer in IE.

    Hi Red-star:

Thanks for taking a look. Are you on a PC. I'm on a mac running IE 5.2. I've talked to a couple of others on mac and they can't see it either. Maybe a mac/pc issue of older version of IE>

  4. Not sure if this will fix your particular problem, but you might try making your page validate.

Edit: Hah. Your actual problem is the CSS. Look for things like this:
    background: url('images/header.jpg') blahblah...

Take the quotes out of that. Make it like this instead:
    background: url(images/header.jpg) blahblah...

IE 5.2 for Mac is very picky about the CSS.

    Hi Otto42:

Removing the quotes from the header, footer and bg jpgs did the trick and now they show up. Thanks. Unfortunately, in the sidebar the navigation, archives and categories jpgs don't show up along with the photo in the post. I went to the code and there is only one quote at the end of the jpg. I tried removing it and then only got a missing link. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Chip

  6. Again, your sidebars are still invalid code. Look at the links. You're missing closing tags for the LI's.

If you want a working site, then validation is not optional.

Thanks for the help. With some help from my html savy nephew I was able to fix the code and everything seems to work in IE for Mac now. There are some small problems, like ? between the text in the footer, but considering MS doesn't support IE for Mac any longer, they're not worth worrying about.

    Thanks again,

    Chip

my question is though, who's using an unsupported browser on a mac? It displays fine on all other browsers. Should I worry?

    thanks in advance
