Hi, in admin under Marketing -> Google Listings & Ads -> Product Feed I’m getting lots of Product Issues with the message “Limited performance due to missing identifiers [gtin, mpn, brand]”.

The problem is it can’t find the gtin13. I’m only getting this with variable products. In each of the affected variable products, I’ve the Google Listings & Ads GTIN setting set to “From Yoast WooCommerce SEO”, which I have defined in the variable product settings under “Yoast SEO options” as GTIN13/EAN.

This works fine with simple products, but apparently it doesn’t pick it up for variable products.

I use the latest WP/WOO and plugin versions with PHP 8.1.

  • Hi there @webwitnl 👋

This works fine with simple products, but apparently it doesn’t pick it up for variable products.

Thanks for reaching out. Happy to help you with this!
From what I gather, this is controlled by the Yoast WooCommerce SEO plugin.

Rest easy, as they have a blog post for exactly how to add global identifiers on variable products with WooCommerce SEO (direct link here).

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know. We’re happy to help.

I think you misunderstood. Indeed it is controlled by the Yoast plugin. It adds GTIN fields under the product variation. But I entered the values correctly there. The Google Listings & Ads plugin fails to pick them up though, unlike when I enter it at the relevant yoast GTIN field for simple products. If you want I can sent you some screenshots.

    Howdy @webwitnl 👋

Thanks for reaching back about this. As I understand, the Yoast WooCommerce SEO plugin is supported by Google Listings & Ads, according to the official documentation (direct link here).

Therefore, I suggest getting in touch with their support team first and making sure everything runs as expected regarding the Yoast WooCommerce SEO, since the GTIN values are fed from that end.

Let us know how that goes!

Ah ok, I thought Google L&A picked it up from Yoast, but apparently Yoast feeds it into Google L&A. I’ll report it there and let you know.

Indeed, that’s how things are, as is explained in the article I shared earlier the data is entered in the Yoast plugin’s side.

Let us know how that goes!

Ok, but you know entering the data there doesn’t mean which plugin supports the other, or the other way round, right? Your earlier link suggests it is Google L&A which supports Yoast, not the other way round.

Anyway, I also reported it at Yoast.

    Hello @webwitnl

As this is handled by the Yoast plugin so hopefully, they will help you with that.

Let us know how that goes!

Hi, Yoast took a long look at it and even logged into my site with temporary admin login etc.

The problem is in the Google Listings & Ads plugin. The GTIN are not being picked by Google Listing and Ads from the Yoast SEO WooCommerce plugin.

Please look again at your documentation you posted yourself:
    https://woocommerce.com/document/google-listings-and-ads-faqs/#section-4

“Google Listing & Ads supports the following extensions: [snip] Yoast WooCommerce SEO – supports using the GTIN/MPN values set via this premium extension which is sold as an addon to the free Yoast SEO extension.”

I took 1 minute to look at your code and found this:
    src/Integration/YoastWooCommerceSeo.php

This is where you should hunt down your bug.

I don’t know why we are having this discussion and you say Yoast supports GLA instead of the other way round, it seems like you don’t have an understanding of the product you are supporting.

Your plugin looks at the values Yoast stores. Your plugin offers the choice to take the GTIN from Yoast. It does for simple products, it does not for variable products. Please fix the bug and stop pointing to Yoast. This is getting silly.

Hi, I looked at the source code and found the bug in 5 minutes. I reported it here:

    https://github.com/woocommerce/google-listings-and-ads/issues/1763

They have confirmed the bug and are picking it up. Thanks for your help.

    Hello @webwitnl,

Thank you for creating a report!

I can see the dev’s reply as well, since the problem has moved to GitHub I will go ahead and close the thread from here.

Please feel free to open a new one if you have any other questions.

    Cheers!
