 * This is all the files I have in my theme:
    comments.php header.php leftcolumn.
   php license.txt rightcolumn.php style.css
 * I noticed in the defaul theme there where more files. Is this theme just poorly
written? Should I add the extra files from the default theme? I like the theme
for the double column design, but I am having an aweful time editing it.

 * Strictly speaking, the only necessary files in a theme are index.php and style.
css. Ryan, WP developer, has an article on the [anatomy of a theme](http://boren.nu/archives/2004/11/10/anatomy-of-a-wordpress-theme/)
