One of the authors on my website, a “Guest Author With No User Account”, seems to have an issue no other authors on my website have.

Their URL triggers this alert in my Google Search Console:

    Missing field “mainEntity”
Items with this issue are invalid. Invalid items are not eligible for Google Search’s rich results

This only seems to be happening for this one particular author. Is there a way to fix this?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi @glwplara

    Thanks for using PublishPress Authors.

Can you please let me know the URL? We will need to do some investigation using the URL.

    Thanks,

Missing field “mainEntity”: GSC Notify and drop down from index!
Can you give me a secret channel where I can share my links and screenshots?

Hi @dba6060. Sorry, all our support for the free version of this plugin is done here in public on the WordPress.org forums.

If you want to stay using only the free version, please post what you can here on this forum.

I’m sorry, but I can’t share the domain address here. I can tell you that the problem is still there.

I am also unfortunately unable to share the URL at this time. Is there any other information I can provide that may help you identify the issue?

    @glwplara @dba6060

Our Pro users have access to our private helpdesk. Unfortunately, for our free users, this forum is the only way to communicate with us.

If you cannot share the URL, please provide the exact steps to reproduce the issue on a fresh WordPress installation.

    Thread Starter glwplara

    (@glwplara)

    1. Install PublishPress Authors plugin
    2. Create an author profile that is a “Guest Author With No User Account”
    3. Create a post and select this newly created author profile as the Author

Once Google indexes the site, it will show the alert I mentioned in my original post in your Google Search Console, for the URL of the author in the format: https://domain.com/author/author-name

Let me know if there’s any other information I can provide.

@glwplara , did you use rankmath? I use Rankmath. Plugin schema is causing the issue. I posted in rankmath support, and they said maybe it’s a published press issue. I see on the Yeost forum that it has suffered this issue before. After that, they made a plugin update.
@rizaardiyanto On my site, I have only one user; this user is also only one author.
Maybe IDK. In my understanding, Google Search Consol says you have to put the “mainEntity” property in the Scema at the top of the “@type”:”ProfilePage” in Instance 1/1 section.

@dba6060 I do not use rankmath. I did suspect it was a schema issue, but seeing as the other author types (“Registered Author With User Account”, “Guest Author With User Account”) do not have this issue, I think PublishPress can update the Authors plugin to ensure the schema is correct for all three author types.

@glwplara Does that mean you are using Yoast SEO? Our plugin should not produce schema on it’s own. Our plugin only modify schema property that already generated by SEO plugin. Currently we support RankMath and Yoast SEO.

I will see if I could replicate the issue on RankMath as @dba6060 said he is using RankMath

@rizaardiyanto yes, I am using Yoast SEO. The other author types seem to be working fine; it is only the “Guest Author With No User Account” type that seems to be causing the issue. I would really appreciate if you can try to replicate and resolve the issue using Yoast SEO as well. Thank you! 🙂
