 * Has anyone seen this before? I am trying to edit a page and the edit pane disappeared…
   I’ve tried disabling non-standard plugins to no avail.

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a **fresh** download
   of WordPress?
 * – increasing the available memory?

 * Yes!! I have just started having this problem, except I’m getting it when I’m
   trying to edit Settings -> Permalinks.
 * I have tried with a completely fresh install of WordPress 3, NO plugins, NO custom
   themes (only twentyten), and I have tried it with debugging on – and I can’t
   even get an error message out of it.
 * This is driving me insane!

 * I am having the same issue. Immediately after updating to 3.0 the edit pages
   were unavailable… just a white page with the indication that it was done loading.
   Anybody??…

 * Can anyone tell me how to reinstall the last version of WP? I’d prefer to put
   up with “Update Now” message then not be able to edit anything. I suggest that
   the message be removed until this issue can be resolved.

 * I’m having this issue with the Networks page as well…. although I’m getting
 * Welcome to the Network installation process!
 * Fill in the information below and you’ll be on your way to creating a network
   of WordPress sites. We will create configuration files in the next step.
 * but nothing else…
 * I really want to stick with WP3, because i’m wanting to do multisite!

   know I’m not.

 * add ‘upload new media’ to the list of pages that wont work.
 * I have PHP vers 5.3.2 on my server…

 * I tried to put my site in maintenance mode. Everything seemed fine: “settings
   saved” but my site is still online. I was tempted to selectively replace some
   3.0 files with 2.9.2 files, the last version I had before the problem started.
   But I figured it would be to risky since I’m simply guessing which files to replace
   combined with not being able to activate maintenance mode. Not sure what would
   happen. The site is up and reachable as it sits and I don’t know what they would
   get if the site was inoperable because of something I inadvertently do. I’d hate
   to simply be offline without a maintenance message. Any top dogs from WP reading
   these messages?

 * I resolved all of my problems by going through cpanel and using FantasticoDeluxe
   updates feature to reinstall WP 2.9.2. Sorry WP team, I couldn’t wait any longer
   for a solution to this. As I have no intention of utilizing the multiple sites
   feature touted in 3.0 I saw no use in making myself miserable for another minute.
   I was certainly satisfied with the performance of the last version.

 * I downgraded to a fresh install of 2.9.2, brand new sql database…
    still having
   a similar problem. Although I’m getting this much on the permalinks page now
   Permalink Settings By default WordPress uses web URLs which have question marks
   and lots of numbers in them, however WordPress offers you the ability to create
   a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archives. This can improve the
   aesthetics, usability, and forward-compatibility of your links. A number of tags
   are available, and here are some examples to get you started.
 * but nothing else. Still also not able to upload media.
    That is on the Default
   theme, with the plugins folder renamed to just ‘pl’.

 * NaeK, As I mentioned, I, as you put it, down-graded to 2.9.2. However, I did
   it through FantasticoDeluxe. The reason I think the means of “down-grading” is
   important is because the existing files are first deleted before the new ones
   are installed. I downloaded and saved my wp-contents folder and database as a
   precaution as I have modified my theme a bit and I didn’t want to take a chance
   of having to repeat that effort. Fortunately, I didn’t need it. The reason I
   think deleting the 3.0 files first is necessary is that there are numerous files
   that are unique to 3.0 that weren’t in 2.X. Hence, uploading the 2.X files and
   simply replacing the files of the same name would not get rid of the extra files.
 * It appears that the problem with the 3.0 installation is likely the auto-upgrade
   process and not the version itself. I have been involved in another thread on
   much the same topic and I received this post:
 * _DaBum, I installed it on a NEW site and it worked. But I have a friend who used
   the auto-upgrade, that’s the one that’s broken. My own main site…I’ve decided
   not to upgrade for now. I’ll wait for the glitches to be worked out._
 * In any case, I will wait to upgrade until I feel certain that it will function
   properly. I hope this helps.

 * Have you checked “Screen Options” to make sure that it’s set to show everything
   and set to 2 columns? (If previously on 1 column the Publish button can be way
   down the page)

 * I have tried it on completely fresh installs of 2.9.2 AND 3 (as in downloaded
   2.9.2 out of the download archives on this site and installed it fresh with a
   brand new SQL database) and it still didn’t work.
 * I can’t even get ‘screen options’ on the permalinks panel, nor can I get anything
   to show up when i click the ‘help’ tab.
 * With 2.9.2 I got the text blurb that shows up at the top of the permalinks panel
   but nothing below it.
 * as you see on this new post I made ([http://wordpress.org/support/topic/419971?replies=2#post-1585509](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/419971?replies=2#post-1585509))
   I have tried pretty much everything that is ‘easy’ to troubleshoot….

 * Naek, When you say “fresh” installs, what exactly does that mean? Are you starting
   with an empty public html folder?
