 * If you happen to be using BuddyPress, this plugin is a good fit. If you’re not
   using BuddyPress, your users won’t be able to upload. MediaPress lacks the ability
   to look at your WP user list and automatically create a gallery accordingly.
   This is not made clear in the description. I spent a lot of time finding this
   out.

 * Hi EddieG,
    We are sorry for the inconvenience.
 * 1. We do not claim to auto create gallery. If you want to allow your users to
   create gallery, you should use the shortcode [mpp-create-gallery]
 * If it is somewhere in the description that we auto create gallery for the users,
   It is a mistake on our part, please point and we will update.
 * It will allow you to use shortcodes and let your users create galleries/upload
   media without BuddyPress.
 * In case of BuddyPress(and only if activity upload is enabled), It does auto create
   a wall gallery. For all other cases, users must create gallery.
 * Hope that clarifies.
 * Regards
    BuddyDev Team

 * Hi EddieG,
    I am sorry, It is partially my mistake too that I could not continue
   the discussion on your activity post on BuddyDev.
 * In future, if you plan to reuse MediaPress, Please post in our forum as that
   gives us a better space for discussion.
 * Thank you for trying it and I hope you will give it another try in future.
 * Regards

 * If there is a shortcode that will allow a user to create his own gallery and
   upload to it, and allow the new gallery to appear on the sitewide display, I’d
   try it if I had it. I’ve examined the shortcode list on your web site many times,
   and it’s not there.

 * Hi,
    You are right. I just checked the documentation [https://buddydev.com/mediapress/guides/getting-started/shortcodes/](https://buddydev.com/mediapress/guides/getting-started/shortcodes/)
 * and I too don’t see this shortcode. The shortcode is available from the very
   beginning but it was not documented.
 * I am very sorry for the time you had to waste due to this. Will add the documentation
   for it today.
 * Our documentation for MediaPress is not complete and currently only partially
   covers the essentials. Specially, the documentation about WordPress(without BuddyPress)
   is not available. I am going to look into it and will make sure to add some proper
   docs this month.
 * Thank you

 * It might be easier to just post the shortcode here on this thread. Then you wouldn’t
   need to edit your docs. If you do, I’ll test it for you and reply here.

 * Thank you.
    Here it is. 1. Please create a page where your users will create
   gallery. In the content area, please put this [mpp-create-gallery]
 * At the moment, this shortcode does not have any option. It will let your users
   choose the privacy/media type depending on your settings.
 * Once a user visits this page, they will be able to create gallery. Once a gallery
   is created, the user gets redirected to single gallery page where they can upload/
   manage media and gallery.
 * I recommend turning of comment on that page for better user experience.
 * 2. If you are not using BuddyPress, I will recommend creating another page where
   logged in users’s galleries are listed. I looked at our shortcode and the listing
   shortcode lacks the ability to auto list for the logged in user. It needs the
   user id to be passed. Which will be inconvenient in your case.
 * I will suggest using the widget to list logged in user’s gallery for next 2 days
   and on 3rd October, I will add the support in [mpp-list-gallery] to auto check
   for logged in and list it if an option is set(Sorry, have yet to decide on name).
 * Regards

 * Well, it works. Sort of. There seem to be permission issues. Possibly there is
   something fundamental I don’t understand about WP permissions. I make all the
   users Author.
 * First, [mpp-create-gallery] gives the user authority to upload to any existing
   gallery regardless of who the creator of the gallery was, and regardless if the
   gallery is marked Public or Logged In Users Only, as if the user was an admin.
   It even allows the user to select galleries that existed at one time but which
   have been deleted. I wonder if those old gallery names are still in the database.
   🙂
 * When I changed all the galleries from Public to Logged In Users Only, all of
   them disappeared from the sitewide display. I’ve only been able to get the sitewide
   display to work by setting all galleries to Public. My site is only open to logged
   in users, but even the admin can’t see the sitewide unless it’s Public.
 * FYI, a few weeks back I did run MP with BP, and everything worked as it was intended.
   Removing BP also removed some of MP’s basic functions. And that is exactly what
   I meant when I wrote “Misleading Description.” Your description says MP works
   with WP.
 * I took the time to write this because, basically, I like the plugin. Thanks.

 * Thank you.
    I appreciate your feedback.
 * I just tested it and it seems something is wrong with your current setup.
 * 1. I am using the [mpp-create-gallery] for creating gallery
    2. I am using [mpp-
   uploader component=”sitewide”] just for testing if it lists other’s galleries
   are shown in the dropdown.
 * I created a gallery with a normal user account(subscriber, It’s a non multisite
   install). I was able to upload to the gallery. I tried uploading to someone else’s
   gallery and I got the error “You don’t have sufficient permissions to upload.”
   which was expected.
 * 3. Directory:- At the moment, It is hardcoded to public privacy, It will change
   in next release(I have mentioned it in another forum thread).
 * I am not sure why and what is wrong, but I am unable to produce the permission
   and other errors.
    I am using normal WordPress and MediaPress. It is a non multisite
   install with default theme.
 * If you can provide more details about your installation, I may be able to emulate
   and solve it.
 * Thank you for taking time to reply. I sincerely appreciate it.

 * Also, If you want, I can setup a fresh install for you to test on our demo server.
   May be you can play with the settings there and then check against your setup
   to see if there is any issue.
 * Please let me know if that will help.

 * Thank you Brajesh for your response.
 * Certainly something in my setup is not what MP wants to see. Whatever it is,
   my other plugins aren’t having any problems. Profile Builder and wpForo both
   are well integrated with the WP user role system, and are working properly with
   no issues.
 * We could say that there is nothing really “wrong” with MP, but it does seem to
   have certain unique requirements that are not well documented. And working with
   no QA or Tech Docs people, as independent developers do, can have consequences.
   IMHO, MP has BP in its blood and can’t really get rid of it.
 * Thanks for taking your time to discuss it.

 * Thank you.
    Yes, MediaPress was creating keeping in mind BuddyPress. We are going
   to put some tutorials/docs in near future to show how to use it without BuddyPress.
