• Be very cautious with Smash Balloon plugins. They advertise free plugins, but once installed and you’ve connected your personal and social media data, you’ll quickly discover that the plugin is severely limited and practically unusable without paying a hefty premium. Basic features like widget functionality are locked behind a paywall.

By the time you realize this, they’ve already harvested your data. It feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. Disappointing and frankly unethical. I even went out of my way to create an account just to share this experience and warn others. Stay away unless you’re ready to pay and even then, think twice.

  • Plugin Support Smash Balloon Manuel

    (@mescobar)

    Hi @flashba,

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback — we’re really sorry to hear about your experience.

We want to clarify that our plugins do not collect any personal or social media data from your accounts. Any data processed through the plugin stays on your own website server. We do include some optional, anonymized usage tracking strictly to help improve our products, but nothing identifiable is ever collected.

Our free plugins come with core features designed to work out of the box, with clearly marked upgrade options for users who need more advanced functionality. If there’s something specific you found limited or if certain widget features didn’t work as expected, we’d love to learn more so we can help clarify or improve.

We didn’t see a support request come through, but our team is always happy to assist directly. Feel free to reach out anytime — we’d really like the chance to make things right.

    Best regards,
    The Smash Balloon Team
