Recently our website was crippled by what we believe to have been a DDOS attack. The site was down for several hours. I’m trying to put together a contingency plan if this or another problem were to happen again. I was thinking a possible solution would be to set up a mirrored site using the Duplicator plugin. If our main site went down again, we could point the domain to the mirror site until we could clear or fix the problem on the main site. Would this work?

I am thinking the same way just in case my site goes down. Also, is there a way where the site will automatically redirect the visitor to the mirrored site if it is detected to be down or inaccessible?

I am hoping that someone could help us out.

    Hey @msligting

Typically if you are getting a DOS attack then you would most likely want the site on a completely separate server and probably even router. So moving the site with Duplicator from say host A to host B would require a change to the DNS records controlled by your host. You may want to contact them to find out how long the propagation would take to go from one server to another, some are fast, while others seem to be slow. Of course there are probably other strategies you could probably use as well with the help of a Google search…

    Cheers~
