# Minimum browser requirements

 * What are the minimum browser requirements to be able to log into a wordpress 
   site? I am having alot of older users on my blog telling me I they cannot log
   in.
 * I had one that was using OSX 10.3.1 using MS IE 5.1 and I know that is too old.
   Too old to even upgrade to something newer. But what about IE 6? How far back
   can you go?

 * Actually IE 6 should work and I’d say maybe even IE5, but a lot will also depends
   on the theme you are using.

 * It normally doesn’t (sorry-I missed that). I can’t say there are ‘minimum’ browser
   requirements stated.

 * I can’t login using OS 10.2.8 and IE 5.2. And IE 5.2 throws up a lot of javascript
   errors. I can login using OS 10.2.8 and FF 2. For what its worth…

 * So, do you think if I were to say on a terms of service page, since I do charge
   for the content I put out, that in order to use this website, you need to be 
   using Firefox 2.0 or newer, IE 6 or newer, safari 3.0.4 (I tested 1.3.2 on 10.3
   and was unable to log in nor install a newer browser).
 * This way, if they use something older and it works, I would be able to warn customers
   that the site might now work using older browsers and I am not responsible for
   them not being able to use the site properly.

 * You have to draw the line somewhere. Really, past a point support becomes near
   impossible as too many things change– javascript, parsing engines, etc. I’d say
   IE 5 is old enough to forget. I wish I could forget IE6 too…

 * I think we all wish we could forget IE6. Also wouldn’t TLS/SSL be a problem. 
   I know computers take the highest common version but if one didn’t have SSL at
   all, would the secure connection be dropped all together?

 * Speaking from experience… I don’t know, but that sounds reasonable.
