Migrating sites, almost successful but seem to have borked login somehow
-
I am migrating a site from Dreamhost to Media Temple, and now cannot login, nor can I retrieve a password.
I used their one-click to install, migrated content, got through it all just fine except for one db setting which MT helped me with. I had not yet switched DNS so was viewing the site on the preview URL provided. I had to rename directories from blog/mydomainname.com to mydomainname.com (FTP access worked fine).
The problem? I couldn’t remember the admin password, and the autoretrieve function wouldn’t work because it kept redirecting me to the existing installation. I tried everything. I used every single suggestion in this KB article:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_PasswordAnd it didn’t work.
Finally, since I had a working installation, I decided to take a chance and switch DNS and hope that once the DNS switched over I would be able to use the email retrieval function. DNS just switched over, and I tried to use the email retrieval function, and it’s telling me that there’s a missing file – it can’t resolve the path:
http://www.jukeboxgraduate.com/wp/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
gives me a 404. Which makes sense, because there isn’t a wp directory on this installation. How can I even begin to troubleshoot this? Thanks in advance.
