Migrating RTL site from Drupal (Farsi)

    I am currently running an RTL website on Drupal (in Farsi). I was able to follow the instructions here to migrate all the posts and comments to the new site on WordPress.

    However, the character formatting does not carry over to the new site. Meaning, characters such as سلام turn into things like @#&* (or similar).

    Both the Drupal installation and the new WordPress installation are Farsi iterations of the CMS, so that should not be a problem. In addition, when I create a post/page in the WP blog in Farsi, the characters show up just fine, indicating the problem is with the imported data.

    Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be immensely appreciated.
