• Hi,

Let me explain my case. I had a blog called http://something.wordpress.com. Then i purchased a domain and mapped the blog to http://xyz.com. I posted no. of blogs and comments on http://xyz.com

I have now shifted to bluehost. I mapped the dns to bluehost and installed wordpress over there. Now http://xyz.com is empty!!

My question is how do I shift my blog and comments from wordpress.com to bluehost? I know i have to shift my files and database but from where? I am clueless about it even after reading the tamba tuts. Where are my old file and db kept?

    thanks. Please help!!

  • Log into your wp.com account and under the Dashboard for that blog go to Manage > Export. Once you have an export file go in your xyz.com WordPress admin to Manage > Import; scroll down to the WordPress option.

    Hi,

Is that all i need to host on bluehost? I heard people discussing to transfer database and all blogs comments by downloading them. Some sql file and dunno what else..

What is the format of this export file?

There are thousands of free themes: http://themes.wordpress.net
Make sure you pick one that is compatible with WP 2.3.3 and displays the tags properly. (Although you can always add the necessary template tags: the_tags
