We have an existing site that has around 30 pages with a blog on a sub directory with 300 pages, we have decided to convert it all to wordpress due to its flexibility.

I understand about the 301 redirects from old pages to new ones, but am I backing up original blog, removing everything (frightening…) then installing wp in home and adding pages for site then setting blog up as new and reinstalling old posts.

    Just after some advice.

site is industrial – computer – systems dot com
blog is on industrial – computer – systems dot com / protective – enclosure

The old site is very dated and I am currently looking for a 3 column theme.

  • Hi geester1,

I would suggest leaving your old website up some the time being and develop WordPress either locally or in a subfolder of your live site. Then once you are happy with the WordPress website migrate it over to replace the HTML version. That way, your site will remain “live” and intact during the re-building process.

There’s tons of great free themes available. Once you install WordPress you can go to appearance and search for themes.

    I hope this helps!

    Tim S,

    excellent thank you.

    Geester1.

I’m glad I could help! Thanks for replying!
