Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Migrating from All In One SEO Pack – not working

I’m trying to migrate to Yoast SEO from the All In One SEO Pack plugin. I have followed this tutorial: https://yoast.com/all-in-one-seo-pack-migration/ but when I go to Tools > Import from other SEO plugins, I see the following notice: “Yoast SEO did not detect any plugin data from plugins it can import from.”

The website on which I’m trying this is a really simple one with just a few blog posts. They neither have META descriptions, but I wanted to especially migrate the settings for the titles.

@andrejdivi Can you please first confirm that both WordPress, Yoast SEO, and All In One SEO are up to date?

You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-fre-plugin/

You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/

    Hi @andrejdivi,

Is All in One SEO plugin active on your site? If not, please activate it. Then go to SEO-Tools-Import/Export and then import from other SEO plugins. All in One SEO should be on the list to import the data from. Again, this guide explains more: https://yoast.com/help/import-options-in-yoast-seo/

Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Yes, All in One SEO Pack plugin is active on my website.

Here’s what I see in my WP admin panel:

    Hi @andrejdivi,

Thank you for your reply and screenshots.

We just double checked this. In order to make All in One SEO show up, would be to manually configure a title or description in one post or page. When you did that, go back to SEO → Tools → Import and Export → Import from other SEO plugins → Step 2: Import.

It should list All in One SEO in the dropdown field, select it if it doesn’t auto select this option, and click the blue Import button. (make a backup of your site before you start migrating)

After importing, all content (post, pages, other post types) should now have the configuration as they had in All in One SEO. You can then use Step 5 on this page to clean up the data from the All in One SEO plugin.

After all of this, please check/configure your default titles and meta descriptions in Yoast SEO by going to SEO → Search Appearance → Check all tabs for the defaults for all post types and configure the defaults.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, Jeroen. I will try that.

Which Step 5 do you mean? (in which tutorial?)

    Hi @andrejdivi,

Sorry if it was confusing. I was referring to Step 2 and Step 5 that are shown on the Import page under SEO → Tools → Import and Export → Import from other SEO plugins.

Thank you. I’ve managed to successfully do it. It worked. 🙂
