I have taken over management of a WP website created by another, and am not really familiar with WordPress. I have created another (replacement) site, and would like to switch the domain from the WP site over to this new site. However, I would like to be able to continue to access the content of the WP site for a time, to complete moving content, but dont need it to be externally accessible, though it is not a problem if it is.
What is the easiest way to achieve this – that is, “disconnecting” the WP site from my domain, while still making the WP content available? Do I need to move it to another, temporary domain? And if so, how would I go about acquiring a temp domain? I have read a bit about moving a site to a local machine, and this is a bit more than I wish to undertake.
Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.
