• Hey everyone,

I currently have to move a bunch of blogs from 2.0.3 to the latest version 2.7.1, and am just wondering what the best way to go about it.

What major schema changes are there, if any? Are there any tools to make this process go smoother/easier? What general advice can you give on the moving of this content?

    Thanks very much,
    -N

  • Backup your database and files.

    Best success seems to be this process–upgrade from 2.0.3 to 2.1, 2.1 to 2.3, 2.3 to 2.5, and 2.5 to 2.7.1

Is there no quicker way to do this other than 4 upgrades for each blog?

In theory, upgrading directly from 2.0.3 to 2.7.1 should work.

There are major schema changes. Just compare your existing tables to Database Description.

If there are major schema changes, then why should that work in theory?
Are there any tools to move the content over as opposed to doing upgrades?

    Thanks,

If there are major schema changes, then why should that work in theory?

I say in theory, because developers intend the upgrade to work, say for a 2.0.3 to 2.7.1 upgrade, but based on reports in these forums, people have had better luck doing the incremental upgrades as suggested above.

The upgrade.php does ‘update’ your database.

    Not that I know of.
