I’d probably move the whole thing ‘as is’ exactly. Get it working ‘as is’ then use these instructions to run the WordPress from that Blog directory as if it was installed in the webroot.

Read over the document a couple times while remembering your WordPress is already in a ‘directory of its own’ if it’s installed in the ‘blog directory’ so you won’t need to deal with moving everything except the two files mentioned in the article.

As a bonus to doing this in this manner, you’ll have everything needed to ‘redo from start’ with the migration as needed and you’ll have left behind a working WordPress on the old server if you need to revert the DNS changes from the server change to recover that way.

You’ll also have two hosts to help you depending on which way you need to revert things if necessary and you have us here as a failsafe if you need more help.

When you are done moving things and it all works as you wish you probably should install the Broken Link Checker plugin just to help double-check your work.

I usually install this plugin early on in the life of my sites. As configured from the start it will take about 3 days to traverse your site the first time but it is fairly quick to find any problems. I usually throttle it back after the initial three days to about 480 hours so it doesn’t become a big resource hog as your site grows.

    Hope this helps.
