• Hi

I started working with Word Press.com a couple of months ago and now see that using Word Press.org on our own host server will be better long term.

I am not a programmer and have found the .com service to be very user friendly and within my skill sets. Will the .org version be as simpmle to use or does it require a programmer to set it up?

I am refering to adding a custom image header, placing widgets, blogrolls on pages, and maybe adding Google Adsense to pages?

    I truly appreciate your feedback.

A little more – I do have a programmer to install on the server, with are with a Go Daddy reseller – my concern is on the admin set up of templates, users and so on?

How different or similar are the two versions. .com – .org?

For templates – you would have to FTP/upload your preferred theme to your wp-content/themes/ folder
For users – add users like you would in WordPress.com

Simply put, in WordPress.com, you just need to choose the theme from among those in the queue, add the features available to your sidebars and posts. And you just keep on posting without worrying about
    – upgrades of WordPress installation
    – upgrades and compatibility of plugins/features with latest WP version
    – regular backup of database
    – CPU or webhost service usage
    – comment spams
    – possible virus attacks
    – restoring database if needed
    – customizing theme – HTML & CSS knowledge needed plus basic PHP
    – etc etc etc
    Cheers
