Support » Fixing WordPress » Migrate from Joomla (with Easyblog) to WordPress, same domain, keep permalinks

  • Hi there,

I have a little problem: I’m planning to migrate from Joomla to WordPress, which is no big deal (my site has only a few pages), except I run a blog on Joomla with the Easyblog component (about 30 articles). The easyblog articles have permalinks like http://www.example.com/index.php/easyblog/example.html

Do you think it could somehow be possible to keep these permalinks in the new wordpress installation by adding a subfolder “easyblog” to it and associating the old articles with this folder (maybe with a certain category)? I just want to avoid the 301-redirection, in order to conserve the social media feedback.

I’d be grateful for your help!

    Best wishes,

    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,

    Use the redirection plugin:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/

If you know the URLs ahead of time, set up the permanent redirection to those. If not, use the 404 reports and set up redirection from there.

    Hope that helps,
    Steve

Oh, sorry, I didn’t see that you wanted to preserve the URL. Hm… this may be a bit of a hack, but I guess you can hard code the social media buttons with the old URLs?
