Hi Brianafm,
would have loved if you got in touch with me before giving a 3 star review.
Anyway, this is almost impossible. The plugin really only blocks people/bots who are coming from or pretending to come from a malicious site. If a real visitor was blocked, the only way this could have happened is if they were on one of the malicious/blocked sites before coming to yours.
Could you give me more details on that?
Hi there,
Sure thing. I had several people who attempted to access my website on an iPhone and a Mac, and they received a message saying “You are forbidden from accessing this website. Powered by Referer Spam Blocker”. This was odd because I also have an iPhone and a Mac, but I assume I’m white listed because of my IP. These were all from US based people.
I’d be happy to change my review, as I really do like the plugin.
Hi brianafm,
any chance I could get more information about the visitors? How did they come to your site? There is no whitelisting in the plugin, so it simply blocks users with a bad referer (no spelling mistake!) address.
If you could provide me more info, I’d be happy to take a look!
The first visitor came from me linking them from Facebook messenger. After she was unable to get to the site, I deactivated the plugin. Then, I posted in a Facebook group to see if any other people with iPhones or Macs had trouble. 2 other people reported the same result (brand new visitors). That’s when I deleted the plugin. A few minutes after, they were able to access the site.
Hi, I’ve yet to hear back. Is there any update?
