   the best approach for determining if there is a real issue, and if so what’s

   Microsoft recommends you don’t continue to this site. It has been reported to
   Microsoft for containing phishing threats which may try to steal personal or 
   financial information.

 * Most likely its a false positive from MS Defender.
    However you may wish to check
   your site files for integrity, re-install WP core files using a button in Dashboard:
   Updates And implement some security measures.
