    Hi!
i’m using the Meteor slide plugin for the first time. couldn’t find an answer on google to this:
I insert a slideshow in my page but the slides are cropped. I defiantly uploaded the full image which size is: 873X305.
But when i look at the page it’s cropped to be 873X200 and not re-sized. The problem is only with the Height.
    Any advise will be appreciated!
    Galit

  • I have the same exact issue. Just installed meteor slides and it works like a charm on all browser and mobile – iphone and droid tested. The only issue is the cropping that I believe comes from WP. I found out that the 4 slide images I uploaded through the media uploader now appear as separate files in multiple versions of sizes in the uploads folder, such that:
    /wordpress/wp-content/uploads/home-banner-1.jpg
now ranges from home-banner-1-150×52.jpg to home-banner-1-938×200.jpg for a total of 10 different cuts of my banner!!! And the slider uses the home-banner-1-938×200.jpg instead of the original size.

I have never used the media uploader before. I always use url paths that I add to my posts, pages, php and css.

I can imagine it would be an upgrade for this otherwise awesome light easy plugin to allow us to specify a url for the image rather than force a media library upload.

With all that being said – I still need help getting the full width of my banner images, which is 328px πŸ™

    Thanks allot!

Hi Galit, did you upload these slides before setting the slideshow dimensions? The slide images are cropped to fit when they are uploaded, try re-uploading them and they shouldn’t be cropped if the size matches.

@starflamedia The slide images are featured images, they use standard WordPress functionality for handling the images, and to add a featured image, it has to be uploaded to the media library. This is because WordPress generates different sized images when they are uploaded, thumbs, medium, and full for posts and pages, and a featured image size for the the slide images in this case.

If your images aren’t the right size, you could have the same issue as Galit, try re-uploading them, if that doesn’t work post a link and I’ll check it out.

Yeah, the height and width should be set before uploading the slide images.

Graet!!! it’s working!! Thank you Josh!!

First time i deleted the images only in the ‘Slides’. Then uploaded them again. but it didn’t fixed it.

On the second time- i delete the images also from the ‘Media Library’
-then uploaded the images and only then it worked just right!
so, starflamedia, remember to delete the images from both place.
    Good luck!
Now i can go to sleep (:

Thank you, Josh! You are awesome! I am very grateful, I wrote a review, and send you a couple of cups of coffee via paypal πŸ˜‰

Yes, it worked just like you said. I changed the size in the Slides menu after I had uploaded the photos. So, following your instructions, I deleted all media and re-uploaded the photos and they are now in the correct size!

You saved me sooo much time!!! Thank you for creating this awesome plugin with mobile in mind…..

And Thanks to galitlevnew too πŸ™‚

You’re welcome, thanks for the coffee and the review!

I have a similar problem, except that my slider was working fine until very recently. Now I’ve lost the bottom of some of the images. Could this be a problem resulting from a WP update? We’re using Magazine Premium, but I don’t think there’s been an update for the it recently. There has been a couple of WP updates lately.
I’ve tried adjusting the Meteor slide height and then deleting and uploading the image again, as suggested, but it’s still cut off.
I find the revamped WP Media Library a bit confusing – but did try to re-scale the images, but that didn’t make any difference either.

@gsgltd The problem is that the first slide is 125×125 and the slideshow is 300×150 but is shrinking to fit the first slide, cropping the rest.

You can fix this by making the slide images all 300×150, or making sure that the first slide is 300×150.

Thanks so much, Josh! That fixed it. I’ll remember that in future!
Sorry for posting the question incorrectly too.

    No problem, glad to help!

    Josh,

I too am having cropping issues, on some. I have formatted my images to the default 600px. I have changes this as a variable each time backing out all my slides and formatting them to that standard. No Luck.

Then I went back to default 600px and again backed out all slides and did an “automate to fit image” in PS……..then save for web at a consistent pixel width…..600, 300, and 336.

I have a mixture of vertical and horizontal formats

    I’m stumped.

Hi David, I don’t see Meteor Slides on that site, did you figure something else out?
