My sincere apologies, but I did not see this until now. There is a funny quirk in wordpress.org that does not e-mail the Plugin Author on the first Support Thread post. Or, at least, it doesn’t for me.

I will investigate immediately and report back here.

Here is a plugin that should solve your problem:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/shortcodes-in-titles/

There may be others, but this is the first one that I found.

I am a bit hesitant to add this functionality to my plugin, as the question then becomes whether I should only look for my shortcodes, which is harder to do.

No, the plugin you recommended does not work – it takes away the shortcode from the body content (where I want to remain and be displayed), but leaves it in the meta tag (visible when you look at the source code) without to display it correctly like [y] (where I want to work).
Regarding the functionality in meta tags – from SEO perspective this is very important; let’s say I optimize tens of pages on a website for different search terms like “vacation packages to x,y,z in [y]”, it’s obvious I need the shortcode to appear in meta tag and also to change automatically every year.
Thanks for support and I hope you’ll find a solution.

I will look into this further and be back to you before the end of the day.

    Thanks again for your patience.

I couldn’t find a plugin that does this, so I’m going to try my hand at building a new plugin that has a Settings page that lets you turn shortcode “handling” off and on in Titles, Widgets and wherever else seems useful. I’ve actually built some custom code in the past to allow Widgets to have shortcodes in them, so I don’t think it will be too hard.

I’ll keep updating this thread. And I’ll let you Beta Test for me.

So far, so good. I have already built a plugin that processes Shortcodes in Titles. Next step is to get it to work for the Browser title, too (i.e. – HTML title tag <title>).

No Settings page yet. Just activate to process shortcodes in Titles and deactivate to turn it off.

The names Shortcodes Anywhere and Shortcodes Everywhere are already taken, and don’t do titles, so I am using jonradio Site-Wide Shortcodes as my working name for now.

OK, I’m ready to go with what is essentially a “Proof of Concept” plugin. Safe to use in a Production System, but I’m not ready to release it yet to the WordPress Plugin Directory.

I don’t want to publish a public URL to it yet, so I do need you to send me your e-mail address by using this Contact Form: http://jonradio.com/contact-us/

I’ll e-mail you a .zip file of the working plugin that you can upload through Add Plugins in the Admin panels.

The jonradio Shortcodes Anywhere or Everywhere plugin has now been officially released: http://wordpress.org/plugins/jonradio-shortcodes-anywhere-or-everywhere/

It allows Shortcodes to be used in many more places than WordPress normally allows.
