  • Ok so here is a quick rundown of the problem. I have been having issues with meta tags, specifically the <title>. Copying, pasting, and teaching myself most of this stuff this is what I came up with.

    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=utf-8″ />
    <title>Rosegger Aquatic Services</title>
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=utf-8″ />
    <meta name=”keywords” content=”pond maintenance, lake management, wetland management, aquatic weed algae control, Lake, pond management, algae, aquatic weed control, fish stocking, mosquito, midge fly control, fresh water quality testing, aquatic wetland compliance permitting, Florida, Tampa, Orlando, Naples, Ft Myers, Ft Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Sarasota” />
    <meta name=”copyright” content=”Rosegger Aquatic Services 2012″ />
    <meta name=”description” content=”Florida lake, pond and wetland ecosystem management; algae, aquatic weed and mosquito control; aeration and fountain sales service and repair; water quality testing, fish stocking.” />

    Only problem is, none of that seems to be working. When I search “Rosegger Aquatic Services” the homepage for my business site comes up but the title is “Comments On.” I have searched the code and I can’t figure out where this is coming from. See link below.,mod=0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=rosegger+aquatic+services

    I am stuck. Anybody that can help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How long has it been since you made the changes? It can take Google weeks to update this stuff sometimes.

    Hi Brian
    What’s your link to your website? Like the poster above me says it takes time for Google to update your site.

    Keywords aren’t used anymore according to Google so don’t waste your time, if they are important for that page make sure they are included within the content area or page.

    When did you change the page title for your home page?

    Keyword are still required for a couple of different kinds of accessibility validation, but yes, Google doesn’t use them.

    It has not been more than a few days so I guess I will let some time pass before I start getting all bent out of shape.
