[Resolved] ‘meta name’ code creates white space in pages

  • I’m working my through the docs. I’ve just migrated from a Dreamweaver-run site, where I had ‘meta name’ code in my page, such as:

    <meta name=”language” content=”U.S. English” />

    I’ve placed the dozen or so lines of ‘meta name’ code into my WP page, however it creates white space when my page renders (one line of white space for each line of ‘meta name’ code lines). I’ve tried several themes, and it happens across all these themes, so I believe it is a WP behavior.

    The ‘meta name’ code lines are important to me for search engines. I’m thinking that there may be a different approach that WP uses; perhaps ‘Custom fields’. However, it begs the larger question (for me), which is why what is normally non-printing HTML code creates white space in WP. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Bob
