    Hi there,

meta descriptions are not showing in source code for CPT single post page.

<!– This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v9.7 – https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ –>
<!– Admin only notice: this page does not show a meta description because it does not have one, either write it for this page specifically or go into the [SEO – Search Appearance] menu and set up a template. –>

They work for regular post types & pages though. I know I’m doing something wrong. I have Yoast for CPT plugin installed.

    CPTs are set to ‘public’.

How do I set up a template?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

We would like some more information.

    A. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v10.0?

    B. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.1? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    C. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    D. What plugin are you using to create the CPT?

    E. When you say “Yoast for CPT plugin” what plugin are you exactly referring to?

    F. How are you creating the meta descriptions for the CPT? Are you adding a custom meta description for each CPT? Can you share a link to the page that has the issue?
