OMG! That’s insane. I just checked it on my site too. I have been keeping the “Meta Description” field empty thinking the Structured Data plugin will automatically fetch the first few lines (excerpt) from the article as Meta Description.
But I just checked those articles from my site and found the meta description field has the whole article there 🙁
That’s not acceptable at all, guys. Please, let us know the solution.
Thanks
This plugin automatically takes excerpt as description, However if you want to modify it You can do from modifying schema output ( https://prnt.sc/105ciq6 )
Hey Sanjeev,
I have configured it accordingly but still, the “description” output is my whole article which is around 500-600 words. I am sure it’s not a legitimate length for a meta description field. It should pick the first 160-180 characeters.
Yes it should be. Can you see compatibility tab in schema settings and disable active compatibility one by one and let us know.
Hey Sanjeev,
I tried unticking “Yoast SEO” and “AMPforWP” one by one and cleared the cache and even tried updating the article so that the Structured data is re-created but it doesn’t solve anything. It’s still the whole article as the “Meta Description”.
I took one step forward to see if it’s just my site that’s having this unnaturally long Meta Description generated by the Schema plugin or everyone has it. I just analyzed 3-4 sites from recently created support threads and found almost each of them has the same problem, the whole article content is used as Meta Description 🙁
You are talking about Article Description or Article body. I also tested many times. Actually if excerpt is not there than we trim 55 words from post content and show in description field. In the above link shared by Narender Chahal. ArticleBody has taken whole content of body and its name suggested it will.
But if you do not want article body than you can modify schema output and keep it empty string or something what you want. ( https://prnt.sc/105k7xm ).;
Hey Sanjeev,
You’re right man. It was the articlebody. Thanks for pointing it out buddy. Gonna modify it. Thanks again for your help…
Thank you for using our plugin and happy that your issue solved.
Absolutely,it was body. My bad. Thanks for all your inputs and onspot support. That’s the reason we chose magazine3 products over others. Thanks again
