Support » Plugin: Author Avatars List/Block » Messy when with name and other text

  • When use only avatars, it is good, but:
    (1) when choose to use name, post numbers, email, and other texts, the alignments are messy, all mixed!!
    (2) It should have an option that “link user to” “profile”, not only “website” and “author page”.
    (3) i should have the choice not to show users’ pictures on the widget setting.
    (4) it should have the function that when mouse move over the avatar, show details of the user.

    Thank you for your feedback

    1. I do as little to the CSS as I can and leave it to the theme
    2. I offer link to the profile on Buddypress want is the link are after?
    3. Never thought to disable the avatar it seems a little wrong that author avatar plug-in don’t show an avatar. you can fake it by setting a small size for the avatar and hiding it in CSS.
    4. Have look and the hovercards in jet pack You can hide the text block in CSS and re-shown on hover

    Paul,

thanks for the reply. i now found even only use photos, it sometimes messy. see the screenshot. this really needs to fix, for further improvement, user should be able to set up how many rows or how many columns on the widget.

if shown with text, it looks like: screenshot

also, if you can define “link user to” “profile”, and “user-defined page”, it will be very useful. Not everybody uses Buddypress

    Thanks

I can why it doesn’t look that nice

this can be fixed with CSS in your theme.

First I would suggest that increase the size the avatars in the widget to just under half the width of the column

then in CSS set the container div to the same size then reduce the text size to a size that works

I an confused as what you mean by “profile”, and “user-defined page”
You can select the authors page (profile) and Website (user-defined page in profile) what is the difference from these to what you need?

If I increase the size from 30 to 35 pixels, it automatically arranges to one column. That was why I think user should be able to define how many columns or rows

“the author page” points to the posts which the author wrote, but not profile.

give me a URL and I will give some CSS to fix that

you need to add float:left to the avatar

what is the URL for a profile?

Paul, please check http://www.ucaar.org. I set to “profile” now, and you can see it does not direct to profile.

that link is only available to logged in users and is best access from the admin bar top right

    Paul,

one more point: It will be nice to have a link “show more avatars” or “show all avatars” on the widget. To keep the widget clean, it can be replaced with a scroll bar for more avatars.

There is paging in the shortcode so that might help you
