Support » Plugin: Event Tickets » Messy and awkward–paid version probably not worth it

I really wanted to like this plugin, but working with this plugin as a front-end developer has been a real challenge. Some really strange choices in the code, and several inconsistencies.

To be fair, the free version is probably great for getting a simple calendar of events up and allowing folks to RSVP. It is straightforward to use, and it looks pretty good. Once you get beyond just the basics, however, it feels a little clumsy.

Though it technically works with the WooCommerce, the integration feels sloppy. Creating a ticket creates an item in WooCommerce, but it won’t display the event image or the event name (just the ticket name) in the cart.

I’m disappointed, but looking for another solution hasn’t been easy either. I’m holding out hope that the developers will invest more time in this add-on to smooth out the bumps, and trying to decide in the meantime if I’ll ask for a refund in the next few weeks.

    Thanks for the feedback, @grantolson.

Event Tickets – the free plugin we make available here – does not actually integrate with WooCommerce, that’s an extra capability added by Event Tickets Plus (I just want to make that clear for others reading this review, since they may only be interested in Event Tickets itself).

We’re continually refining and improving our plugins, so hopefully we will indeed be able to add some of the refinement you’re looking for.

I hope we can keep you as a customer but, ultimately, this is also why we maintain a 30-day refund period: we’re proud of what we’ve achieved with Event Tickets Plus but we realize it may not fit perfectly in every site.

Some really strange choices in the code, and several inconsistencies.

Can you speak some more to these choices and inconsistencies? Is it mostly covered by your notes on the event name and image not appearing in the cart?

We’d love to learn more from you if we can 🙂
