Messed Up Enabling Network

  • anndonnelly

    @anndonnelly

    I enabled and installed a network without properly checking if my wildcard subdomain was working. The main site wasn’t working properly so I reverted back to old .htaccess and wp-config.php but not to the back-up of database.

    The client has now made a lot of changes to the site so I cannot now revert to the pre-network database to start from scratch.

    If I try to enable network now will I run into problems with the database?

    Thanks, Ann

    It’ll come up and say a previous network was detected.

    you can drop the network-specific tables so you can recreate it again, in either format.

    If you disabled the wp-config part of the network, then the client would not have been able to see any network-specific stuff, so you should be good there.

    (as always, backup before doing anything)
