    Hi,

I am runnign WP 2.0.5 on a personal host and have instalkled the blog inb a subdirectory http://manukhanna.com/*blog. Earlier today I messed up somewhere big time with the result taht:

    1. On trying to access the site homepage, I am getting a page that only has links to my pages and categories, no content though, no theme, also (screenshot: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4103/screenahf7.jpg)
    2. On trying to access my WP ADMIN page(http://manukhanna.com/blog/wp-admin/)I again get a page with links to Dashboard, Presentation etc. but clicking on any of these throws up an error, “Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin/themes.php was not found on this server.” (Screenshot: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6370/screenbyh8.jpg)

I ran thru the codex for help and found stuff for file permissions. Going by that I set permissions to all folders 755 and all files to 644 and tried again. But the results is the same. test again.

Can anyone really help me with this. I’ll loose all my posts etc, I know I should have been more regular with my backups, guess I will be from now on. Why do we always learn the hard way.

  • MKadmin I cant help you but I have the exact same problem and I am waiting on an answer. It happened when I made the wordpress address and blog address the same (in ‘options’ section), wordpress was formerly /wordpress at the end. I had install4fre team install WP for me 2 days ago and the guy said that

“Even though the actual WordPress files reside in a sub-directory, an
index.php file was put in your webroot, and the Options->General admin
    page
Blog address (URI) was changed so that WordPress acts as your main
    page.”

I think maybe its something to do with this. Did you change anything?

NP friend. actually if u read the entire howto on http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress, you will realize that we were going thru was SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. That is why the person who wrote the tut put in step 8: Do not try to open/view your blog now!

He knew that some novices like us will go bonkers and go screaming for help on the forums :).

Abt the old empty folder, go ahead and delete it,
