I’m protecting this whole page and only making it visible only to subscribers. I want to let people know who are not logged in that they need to login or register in order to see the page contents. How do I do that?

Are you using the meta box to restrict that content? (here: https://ps.w.org/restrict-content/assets/screenshot-2.png?rev=2287616 )

Thank you Ashley. That was what I needed. I had the message just in for the shortcake, not the specific user.
