 * Any idea what Lycos is on about here and, more to the point, what I can do about
   it?
 * “Dear Lycos Customer,
 * After checking your account at Lycos Webhosting **[our-blog-address]**,
    we have
   noticed that you are currently running an insecure file **[our-blog-address]/
   wordpress/xmlrpc.php** which causes PHP Abuse. Since your account is on our shared
   hosting platform, this creates performance issues for all our customers, you
   included.
 * Instead of locking your complete account, we have decided to deactivate the file
   using FTP permissions, so that you have the possibility to look at the file,
   adjust it and later reset the FTP permissions to activate it again.
 * Thank you for your understanding and consideration of this matter.
 * Kind Regards
 * Your Lycos Webhosting Team.
    ”

 * Probably dont want their servers talking to other servers.
    Get a new host.

 * icundell, where is your blog, what is the url?
 * is this it?

 * That email reads as if they think there is something specifically wrong with
   the file that can be fixed — not that they dont allow it to be used — or they
   wouldnt allow you to “re-enable” it.
 * I would email them back, explain that you are using the most current versdion
   of WordPress, and that that file is included in the most current WordPress distribution.
 * You might also want to ask them to point out specific problems they have with
   it, if any.

 * Just had a very similar message from Lycos regarding a phpBB file `viewtopic.
   php`, so it’s not specifically a WordPress issue. I don’t think this file has
   changed since installation, so perhaps either they are responding to some security
   alert, or some heuristic tets is giving false positive.
