    Hello,
I have a pre-sale question regarding the WP Staging Pro plugin.

Does the Pro version allow to merge databases during the synchronization of staging and live websites, rather than just copying databases, to avoid overwriting content that was added to the live website after creating the staging website?

The developers of the WP Stagecoach plugin claim that their plugin is the only one among all staging environment plugins that provides merging functionality. Is that true?

    Hi @alexschneider_ru

Rene here, founder of WP Staging.

A few plugins say they offer reliable merging functionality between different sites. We tested nearly all of them, including the one you mentioned, and I can not confirm that this always works 100% under all circumstances.

One particular problem all merging tools have afaik:

For example: If there has been created a new item with a post id that already exists on the staging and you “merge,” then the plugin can not know what data should be the source of trust and, at worse, will overwrite the data on the live site.

For a blog article, this is not bad, but if you run a shop, this would be the worst.

If you use WooCommerce, you can activate HPOS and will be able to exclude the order tables from pushing: https://wp-staging.com/woocommerce-custom-tables-initial-implementation-ready-for-testing/

    Hi Rene,

glad to read your answer. So what it int the essense? Now my website is really just a blog with many CPT and taxonomies (by JetEngine) so I do not worry about orders and such. But I need to add WooCommerce and some other functionality to this site though.

Do I need to use WP Stagecoach (or maybe WP Vivid Database Merging for that matter)? So WP Staging Pro can not do merging?
