Merging Blog Posts and Custom Post Type

  • I got a request if it was possible to use recent posts from our blog and display them inside our news feed. The news section on our website was created as a custom post type, so there’s a simple query to display them…with the most four recent news items appearing on the homepage. The website is done in one WordPress installation with the blog having it’s own WordPress installation.

Would it be possible to somehow merge the blog posts (maybe through a RSS feed?) with the news feed and have the homepage display the most recent ones…whether those are blog or news posts? Any help would be appreciated. Just curious if this would even be possible at this point.

  • Not sure if there is an Automatic way of doing it but the way to display any posts or pages in a web page is to put them in an iFrame. the basic code goes like this:

    <iframe name="mypage" src="post01.html" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto" width="800" height="350" marginwidth="3" marginheight="3" ></iframe>

This means you ne4ed to make the changes almost daily or in real time to get the last 4 or 5 new blog posts. Hard work I have to say that.
