  • What about trying this plugin? http://www.technosailor.com/wordpress-to-wordpress-import

(backup both databases first, of course…)

Thank you! I think that worked. I haven’t had chance to look into it in too much detail yet, but the posts and comments all seem to have imported from one to the other. (I had to upgrade both blogs from 1.5 to 2.0.5 though)

I’ve tried technosailor’s plugin, but it doesn’t seem to work. what am I missing?

I installed it according to the simple directions, activated it, and attempted to upload a database I made from the backup-your-database instructions, and I get the message “Have Fun!” but the posts from my database backup aren’t there.

    what am I missing?

Well, that thread is 9 months old. Since then, the functionality that came from the plugin is now built-in to WordPress.

In other words, you shouldn’t need the plugin if running current versions of WP.

Manage->Export for both blogs. Then Manage->Import->WordPress for them into the combined blog.

Wow! I check this morning for this very question, and find a fresh thread! That’s just the info I wanted.

I am trying to do the opposite — my blog has become scattered across too many subjects, so I need to divvy-up my blog into two or three better-focused ones.

So I wish the “export” feature included “filter by category” as well as the already-present “filter by author”.

But that’s just hypothetical icing; the export-import feature is enough; just what I needed. Thanks!
