Hello Oxygen fans,

My menus aren't working on mobile.

Any recommendations?

Lisa

Is it just your site or does it occur on the theme's demo site?

Can you try deactivating plugins to explore whether any could be responsive?

Hi,

Yes, that would be the obvious thing to do but...

I did update two plugins yesterday at the same time that my host server crashed: a)Akismet b)FLA Gallery.

It seems unlikely that these two very common plugins are causing the problems. It seems more likely that some code was corrupted.

What do you think?

On a different note, I do have two more questions:

1. How do I get the RSS icon removed from the URL bar.
2. Where/how do I install my ico icon?

Thank YOU!
Lisa

It's best if we narrow down the cause of the issue before hypothesising what could be the issue.

Hi, I just deactivated plugins and tested and it still doesn't work.

Have you modified any JS files?

Not that I am aware of.

You're missing this stuff:

It's causing an error in your JavaScript and stopping any preceding JavaScript from working.

Can you try reinstalling the theme?

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the tip.

Can you advise on the best way to reinstall the them without losing all of my theme settings?

Thank you,
Lisa

No, as far as I'm aware you'll have to redo your theme settings.

If I added this script to the Header would that do the trick?

Okay, but do think that re-installing the new theme will disrupt the other plugins? I have two major database plugins i'm concerned about.

Reinstalling the theme should not affect the plugins and your theme settings should also be saved. If you've changed theme FILES, those changes will be lost. If you are concerned, it never hurts to backup your site first -

To reinstall the theme, change to twentytwelve, delete the theme and then reinstall it.

I tried switching to another theme, deleting Oxygen, and then downloading/reinstalling/reactivating it. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem.

I'd like to try deactivating the mobile Oxygen theme component altogether.

Apparently in the .com version of the Oxygen theme, an Appearance -> Mobile option appears and it's as simple as changing a setting. However, no such option appears on the .org version. Is there another way to accomplish this?

Thank you!

I just deactivated plugins and tested and it still doesn't work.

It's possible that at the time you did the test after all plugins deactivated you didn't clear browser cache.

Thanks, paulwpxp, but I tested from multiple browsers on multiple devices and also had others test from their own devices. We also made a point of clearing browser cache and retesting if/where we had recently loaded the site.

This is obviously a plugin conflict issue, or a faulty WP core install, because

1. The superfish (dropdown script) is loaded but it doesn't work at all.
2. All the theme JS loaded to the head as opposed to the footer.

Even if they are loaded to the head, everything JS should still work, but the fact that they got moved to the head indicates something else is doing a weird thing to the system.

Deactivating NextGEN Gallery seems to have fixed the issue. (We had only previously tried deactivating plugins involved in that fateful update, as well as a few other obvious suspects.)

Thanks much for the encouragement to experiment with deactivating every plugin until we found the culprit.

TWENTY TWELVE (Responsive Menus). After updating to NextGEN 2.0, the mobile navigation "Menu" button would no longer toggle down revealing navigation options.

That's taken from the plugin author which gathered from users reports. It even conflicts with TwentyTwelve small menu along with several other slider scripts.

Yes, looks like we encountered a similar problem/effect on the Oxygen theme.
