• I have my sidebar nearly complete. I set up a custom menu called Links, added a link to that menu and saved it. I put the widget it my sidebar. But the link is not there nor do I see where to add links. The menu is under Top Menu but elsewhere the menu it is under is Links.

I’m thinking I need to create a Links WIDGET not MENU. So, if that’s right, how do I create a widget or can I edit one not used, like Calendar?

  • The custom menu widget will display a custom menu that you select from the dropdown in the widget options. So if you created a menu under WP-Admin > Menus called Links, and you selected Links from the dropdown in the widget in WP-Admin > Widgets, you should be seeing your menu in the sidebar.

Alternatively, you could install Links Manager and just use that.

Thanks. How do I add links if I did the above? I looked where I thought they would be but nope.

I looked at your provided link and it seems good. I just prefer using the admin area by itself over plugins. But if I have, I do.

That plugin is solid. The Links section used to be part of WordPress core until v3.5, where they removed it and made it a plugin. For managing external links, that’s your best bet.

Ok, am about to download it and install.

    *fingers crossed*

    You ROCK!!

I tested Under My Links and it worked. Then I added 2 more categories and it added them AND created the new boxes titled correctly.
