Menu twenty eleven all of a sudden sometimes twice as long

this is caused by the ‘bold’ format of the current menu item; if the menu title is longer, this then exceeds the available space in the menu bar;

possible remedies:

reduce the padding in #access a { ... } – right now it is:

#access a { padding: 0 1.2125em; }

or/and reduce the left space of the menu bar; this is the value now:

#access div { margin: 0 7.6%; }
