It looks like you were able to fix it. If it still looks broken to you, try clearing your browser’s cache.
Actually I couldnt fix it, I had to reload the last version prior to the error.
I still need to know why it happens so I can avoid it again.
I did clear cache – didnt help.

From the screenshots, it looks like you maybe didn’t select a location for the menu at Appearance -> Menus -> Locations, and the theme just went with its default (which is usually to list all pages).

basically I added the page to the existing menu (the only menu) that was working previously.

Right, but the location may have been altered. Just double-check that after you save the menu.
do you mean after saving it still says the same menu name? even if it is the only name?

No, just check the Locations tab the be sure the proper menu is assigned to the proper location.
