Since updating to 1.8.1 (and I’m on 1.8.3 now), the menu settings in the dashboard, where it says “Add Menu to Replace”, nothing remains when I hit save. I add #menu-main-menu (which is the correct name of the menu I want to use there) and it disappears when I hit save. And the Slicknav menu never activates.

I’ve turned off all the plugins but none seems to be a conflict. I use this plugin with all my themes and have never run into this until WP went to 4.8 and the plugin went to 1.8.1.

Anyone else having this issue? Is it a bug?

    Hi,
I have not experienced this in testing – can you tell me does this occur in some of your other sites.

On the site that it is an issue – can you inspect the page with developer tools and search for ‘var SlicknavVars’ and paste back all the code for that piece.

Version 1.8.0 is still available for download and use. – https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/slicknav-mobile-menu.1.8.0.zip

I’ve not experienced it with any other site, which is why I thought it was strange. 🙂

I inspected the page in the settings with the developer tools and can’t find any reference at all to ‘var SlicknavVars’. Perhaps I’m looking in the wrong place?

If you can’t see in the source code then none of the settings are sticking which is odd.

I have just done a minor update to 1.8.4 – maybe try that and see if it fixes it – and also clear any caching you may have set up on the site.

Hello again! So, I’m still running into major issues here. I have done the following:

    1. Reverted to Twenty Sixteen and Twenty Seventeen
    2. Deactivated all the plugins and turned them on one by one to see if I can find the issue. I did this both in the theme I’m working with (in Genesis, which I use all the time with SlickNav plugin and never have an issue) and with the default themes.
    3. Nothing comes up in the source at all for ‘var SlicknavVars’.
    4. I’ve tried both 1.8.0 and 1.8.5 and neither work.
    5. I’ve got this plugin running successfully on other sites with Genesis and the same plugins Im using here.

Any other ideas? I’m totally tapped out. Thank you!

I wonder is there is something in the theme that is conflicting in particular some javascript/jquery issue.

If you inspect the site with Chrome Dev tools are there any errors displayed in the Console tab?

Would be happy to take a look if you have a URL

Thanks! I do have a URL, is there a way I can send you the URL and potentially the login more privately? 🙂

Oh, also, no, there are no errors on the site, nor on the dashboard on the Slicknav settings page. The only thing it displays is:

JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1

Please try the latest version, should be ok

It had to do with the collation type in the wp_options db set to latin1_swedish_ci and storing html entities.
