# Menu – remove link – 2016 theme

 * I’d like to remove the link from a menu item in the 2016 theme. In previous themes
   you could do a work around by making a custom link with no URL. However, that
   is not possible with 2016. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

 * Hi [@ripple](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ripple/), URL field in custom
   link are mandatory, but if you don’t want to use a link you can just add # in
   the URL field
