Menu of similar category posts in single.php?

On my site I have category specific menus that use thumbnails stored in the post excerpt fields: http://www.buskerdog.com/paintings/people

I want those same category menus to appear on the individual posts so that users can see all the “sister” posts to the one they are looking at. But I can’t figure out what tag to use to do that. Help?
