    Hi,

I have a problem here which I have not been able to solve all day so I turn to you all in hope of help.

Simple issue: My menu navigation label changes when I click on to it.

    For example:
    Page name = coverbandreviews
Page heading = Testimonials (set by using WP Title 2 plugin, Version 3.6 By Hristo Chakarov)
    Navigation label = Testimonials
    Permalink = domain/coverbandreviews

If I am on my home page the menu bar and the page names all look fine. If you click on the Testimonals page, for example, the menu navigation label then changes to coverbandhire, the actual page name and not the navigation label.

This is obviously no good and looks totally dumb.

Does anyone have any idea at all why this happens and how to stop it please?

    Many thanks indeed!

No idea, but a link to your site might help someone to work out whats happening.

Have you tried deactivating your WP Title plugin & other plugins to see whether it is caused by a misbehaving plugin?

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately my site is not live at the moment, I’m just building it but I would of course love to show you.

However you have just hit on something.

I deactivated the plugin I mentioned and this has stopped the changing of the nav label in the menu bar.

    However, it re-introduces another problem.

In my content area I now have the page title displayed as a header i.e. COVERBANDREVIEWS – just like that.

I do not want this either lol

The idea was to have a search engine friendly page title but not display that title in the content area but a more appropriate one.

If the header changing plugin is going to upset other areas of the site, would you have any suggestions here at all please??

    Thank you.

If your page heading is Testimonials and the navigation link is labeled Testimonials why is the page named coverbandreviews? wouldn’t it be easier to rename the page to ‘testimonials’?

If not, I think your options are:

    1. Use a custom menu if your theme supports them
    2. Add custom menu support if your theme doesn’t supports them
    3. Use another plugin which is designed to change the link text on menus
    4. Report the problem to the plugin author as a possible bug

Your first point is spot on and I just realised it myself too. I literally began investigating wordpress a couple of days ago and this is clearly a rookie error. Thank you for your help, really appreciated and problem solved now. Thanks!
