Menu main links – can I make them clickable links again?

I see the main links lose their ability to be clickable links when a sub-link is put underneath them. How can I make those links clickable again?

Also I want one inline menu, though I am looking for the width of the menu buttons so I can change that in my custom css. Hopefully I can do that.
