menu going walkabout

  • I can’t for the life of me figure out why my last post (or the one which is now at the bottom of the page) is bumping my menu down to the bottom of the screen under the end of the posts in IE.
If I delete the most recent post order is restored.
I have looked and I can’t see any unclosed <div>’s, which had caused the problem in the early days when I imported from blogger.
Can anyone see what I’ve missed here?

thanks! (of course it displays perfectly in firefox)

  • oh, I just changed the widths of my menu and content by 1 pixel each and lo and behold it is fine again.
but I still want to know how it happened all on its own. Too strange.

    Are you using Internet Explorer?
I note you have a fixed-width site (or content area). From my experience, the default CSS added margins and/or padding to the content and menu areas. Unfortunately, IE does not display these according to standards (or even logic) — and can double margins. Example: you specify 50 pixels margin; IE gives you 100 pixels.
    I found the solution at zeldman.com. 🙂
